A guide how to obtain a Reader’s Card to use our e-resources, reading rooms and circulation services

Please visit the Circulation Department (20, Grzegórzecka Street, room No. 004) or use the online form to apply for admission to the Medical Library.

Library accounts are not activated automatically. Once the data are verified, the User will receive detailed instructions to his or her email box.

Please note that your email address at the domain @student.uj.edu.pl or @uj.edu.pl is required to create a HAN account (Hidden Automatic Navigator).

Library accounts run for one academic year and need to be renewed annually. Renewal is free for the Jagiellonian University students.

 

E-resources

Jagiellonian University e-resources (e-books and e-journals) can be searched locally or remotely.

 

On-site collections and facilities

The Reading Rooms (Books & Journals and e-Resources) are available to all current Reader’s Card holders.

Paper books and journals in the Books & Journals Reading Room are kept on open shelves and all users have direct access to them. If an item is unavailable, it can be requested from the closed stacks.

E-Resources Reading Room provides access to computers with digital collections such as journals, databases and internet medical resources.

In the Medical Library, free WiFi network (UJ_WiFi or Eduroam) is available to anyone who has an email address at the domain @uj.edu.pl or @student.uj.edu.pl.

Please, follow the online instructions to configure your computer to use the Eduroam wireless network.

Visitors to our reading rooms are required to leave coats and bags in the cloakroom.

 

How to borrow items

Items can be requested from the JU Libraries Online Catalogue after logging in from any computer.

Login:              Student ID Card number

Password:       received at registration

 

Scanning services

The scanning system allows the holders of valid library card to get scans of printed documents which are included in the library holdings.

To take advantage of this service, please register, log into the system and fill in the registration form.

Scanning accounts are not activated automatically. Once the data are verified, the User will receive instructions to his or her email box. Scanned documents will be available to view and download from a link sent to the requester in an email. The link is valid for 14 days.

Scanning is free for users who have logged-in from the domains @student.uj.edu.pl or @uj.edu.pl (no more than 15 articles monthly).

 

Mendeley – reference management system

Mendeley Premium account (www.mendeley.com) is free for all Jagiellonian University students.
