Interlibrary Loans – Borrowing from Other Libraries
Medical Library offers an interlibrary loan service when required materials are not available at any Cracow public library. Books, copied parts of books (chapters) and journal articles are the most frequently requested items. They are borrowed from libraries both at home and abroad. Terms and conditions of this service, as well as costs and delivery time depend on the regulations of the lending library. Circulation of the requested materials depends on whether it is printed or digital. You will be notified (by phone or e-mail) of the shipment of your ordered printed materials whereas scans shall be sent to your e-mail address. Printed books can be accessed only in the Reading Room and photocopies can be picked up in the Library.
These services are free of charge for the JU MC staff and faculty members, PhD students and other students who are members of student research clubs. All other users are charged a fee.
If a journal article is unavailable in Poland, we usually order it via SUBITO (ordering journal articles from a library abroad).
Interlibrary Loans – Lending to Other Libraries
The Medical Library lends items from its collections to other libraries in Poland or abroad for 30 days. Instead of sending the original, we can prepare a copy, with respect for the copyright and at the requester’s cost. The cost of shipping is covered by the Medical Library, and the postage for the return of the item is to be paid by the ordering party.
